NOVA Showcases Its Antimicrobial Coating Innovations at E-MRS 2026

NOVA booth
The NOVA project was prominently represented at the 2026 European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) Spring Meeting, held in Strasbourg, France (25–29 May 2026).
As one of Europe’s leading conferences in materials research, E-MRS gathered scientists, industry experts, and innovators to discuss advances shaping the future of functional and sustainable materials.
Strong NOVA Presence: Booth and Posters
A dedicated NOVA exhibition booth – coordinated by WP1 and WP8 representatives Sara Espinoza and Melusine Billig – served as a hub for engagement and dialogue. Visitors explored NOVA’s latest results, project materials, and opportunities for collaboration.
In parallel, poster contributions from project researchers showcased NOVA’s technical achievements, including:
- “Particle Release from Light-Activated Antimicrobial Coatings under Simulated Dermal Contact and Cleaning” – Nurshen Mutlu, WP6
- “Metal-Free Photoactive Antimicrobial Coatings” – Giacomo Reina, WP4
Key Messages and Outcomes
NOVA’s participation underlined the project’s unique approach, combining advanced antimicrobial coating technologies with robust, responsible testing – addressing both efficacy and safety (including particle release).
The booth and poster sessions facilitated vibrant scientific exchange, raising awareness among materials researchers and reinforcing NOVA’s presence within the European materials research ecosystem.
